Stocks slumped Tuesday on Wall Street after the International Monetary Fund predicted weaker world economic growth and as investors waited for what they expected to be lower corporate earnings.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 110.12 points, or 0.8 percent, to 13,473.53.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 14.40, or 1 percent, to 1,441.48.
The Nasdaq composite index fell 47.33, or 1.5 percent, to 3,065.02.
For the week:
The Dow is down 136.62, or 1 percent.
The S&P is down 19.45, or 1.3 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 71.17, or 2.3 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 1,255.97, or 10.3 percent.
The S&P is up 183.88, or 14.6 percent.
The Nasdaq is pu 459.87, or 17.7 percent.
