Nevada was twice lucky for Mitt Romney.
The Silver State bet big on Romney last night ? a win with a slightly diminished impact because it was expected, but which was, nonetheless, a notch in the fight for the nomination.

1) Mitt Romney has medium ?mo?
It?ll become ?big mo? if Romney strings together three wins in a row. But for now, in a Mormon-heavy state where he?d been organizing for almost five years, it?s just medium-level momentum.
It?s the obvious point of the night since Nevada was a state where Romney was so heavily favored that Fox News didn?t start its election night live coverage until close to poll closing time (those watching got to watch Mike Huckabee interview Meryl Streep at his regularly scheduled 8 p.m. time).
Yet Romney?s speech after his big win ? as of midnight, he was not poised to crack 50 percent but was instantly called the victor by the cable news networks ? was among the most general election-focused he?s given.
One of the challenges for the rest of the field was keeping Romney from amassing a string of victories in a row. But that?s exactly where the race seems to be headed.
It doesn?t matter that the upcoming states are largely caucus states, some of which his opponents are competing in half-heartedly. Wins are wins, and being able to highlight a bunch of them is good for Romney, no matter how many states are left to go.
Romney also won conservative voters and evangelicals Saturday ? data points that will seem less important in the Mormon-heavy state of Nevada, but which his team will use to argue he?s making inroads with groups that have resisted him.

2) Romney is banking on pessimism
There?s a very fine line for a candidate between speaking candidly and sounding like they?re rooting for the nation to hit harder times.
Romney is now walking that line, a reflection of Friday?s jobs report that showed the unemployment rate is now at 8.3 percent ? still quite high but not as high as it was ? and seeming to trend downward.
